Shopify reports make it easier to dig into your sales numbers

The Shopify blog has a post called Announcing 5 New Shopify Features to Help You Sell More. That post has a lot of information and links to full documentation about the features they mention.

The main thing I want to call your attention to in the post is the new reports that are available. You need to have either the Professional plan ($79/month) or the Unlimited plan ($179/month) to get these, but basically there are some reports that are way cooler in Shopify 2 than those that were in Shopify 1.

Actually, I can’t even remember exactly what reports were available in Shopify 1, but now, if you are on the Shopify Professional plan you can view your sales in the following ways:

  • By Month
  • By Region
  • By Customer
  • By Traffic Source
  • By Payment Method

Whether want to get really analytical and make a lot of changes based on these reports, or just like to take a glance at them from time to time, it’s pretty cool to be able to access this data quickly right in the admin panel without a lot of headache.

I think it’s just another sign that Shopify is dedicated to making their platform more and more useful to small business owners by constantly iterating and making things better over time.

To get to the Reports, just go into your admin panel and click Reports from the main menu on the left side of the screen.

With the Unlimited plan, you also have the ability to make custom reports. I don’t currently work with any stores that are on the Unlimited plan so I can’t really provide any details on how those work, but again you can read more about that in the Shopify blog post and in the documentation links provided there.
